Estimado(a) representante de la sociedad civil:
Nos es grato compartir el Informe Final de la Segunda Reunión Extraordinaria del Comité para la Eliminación de Todas las Formas de Discriminación contra las Personas con Discapacidad (CEDDIS), que se llevó a cabo el 25 y 26 de abril de 2012 en Lima, Perú.
Dicho informe incluye, entre otros asuntos, los principales resultados y temas abordados en la Reunión, a saber:
- Diálogo con la sociedad civil;
- Designación de las Autoridades del Comité para el período 2012-2014;
- Red de Cooperación para Haití;
- Análisis de la situación financiera de la Secretaría Técnica del Comité;
- Progreso en la implementación de la Convención Interamericana para la Eliminación de Todas las Formas de Discriminación contra las Personas con Discapacidad (CIADDIS); y
- Actividades efectuadas por el Comité durante el período 2011-2012.
Asimismo, en relación con el diálogo con la sociedad civil, el CEDDIS ofreció un espacio en el marco de dicha reunión para la participación de representantes de organizaciones de personas con discapacidad y sus familias, a fin de escuchar y recibir sus inquietudes, recomendaciones y aportes, al igual que información sobre las medidas implementadas por los Estados Parte de la CIADDIS para su cumplimiento (ver anexo 2 del Informe Final).
El CEDDIS tiene como objetivo velar por el cumplimiento de la CIADDIS, y promover la inclusión social y el respeto de los derechos de las personas con discapacidad.

Dear civil society representative,
We are pleased to share the Final Report of the Second Extraordinary Meeting of the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (CEDDIS) (only available in Spanish), which took place on April 25 and 26, 2012 in Lima, Peru.
This report includes, among other things, the main outcomes and issues addressed at the meeting:
- Dialogue with civil society;
- Designation of Officers of the Committee for the period 2012-2014;
- Cooperation Network for Haiti;
- Analysis of the financial situation of the Technical Secretariat of the Committee;
- Progress in implementing the Inter-American Convention for the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (CIADDIS); and
- Activities conducted by the Committee during the period 2011-2012.
In relation to the dialogue with civil society, the CEDDIS provided a space in the framework of the meeting for the participation of representatives of organizations of persons with disabilities and their families, to hear and receive their concerns, recommendations and contributions, as well as information on measures implemented by the States Parties for compliance with the CIADDIS (see Annex 2 of the Final Report).
The CEDDIS aims to ensure compliance with the CIADDIS, and promote the social inclusion and respect of the rights of persons with disabilities.
